Although this summer is flying by, it is not over yet! We know everyone’s schedules are crazy busy and sometimes the kids teeth (or your teeth) get shoved to the backburner… BUT it’s good to make sure we can do whatever we can to make sure our teeth are taken care of!
Taking care of your teeth save you time and money later on.
Here are 4 quick tips to help you stay on top of your oral health, whether you are on the go all the time, or on vacation this summer!
1. Rinse your mouth with water after you indulge in summer sweets! These include anything from soda, juices, candy, or desserts. Doing a quick rinse can help dissolve the sugars that are stuck between your teeth. The longer they sit there, the more time they have to eat away at your healthy enamel on your teeth. This is a quick way to prevent decay no matter where you are and if you aren’t going to brush with toothpaste right away.
2. Use a mouth-guard during sports. We know this is the last thing that your child wants to wear while they are outside playing football or competing in a soccer game, but too many times have we had children (of all ages) come in to our office in an emergency with chipped teeth or missing teeth. These protect your teeth and will save you time and money if anything ever happens. Play safe!
3. Rinse with Listerine at night. Always great for keeping those cavities away and maintaining your teeth’s strength. This is quick and easy to do right before you go to bed. There are both adult and children’s Listerines that you can use.
4. Carry a flosser with you. They sell these at Target, Walmart, Walgreens… Pretty much anywhere. And they are super cheap! These disposable gadgets are good for those times when we need to get something out from our teeth! Again, food and/or sweets that are wedged in between our teeth, sitting there for a while, can cause decay…not to mention being uncomfortable.
Enjoy the summer everyone! Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
